Small Business Collaboration: Women Supporting Women

Small business collaboration can be a superpower for success. When two or more businesses come together to create a project, they can achieve more than they could on their own.

When creative minds come together, magic happens. Collaboration brings fresh ideas, different perspectives, and fosters boundless innovation. When women work together to support each other, the impact is even more significant. Strengths are shared and challenges are overcome.

One of my favourite things about collaboration between female entrepreneurs is that it goes beyond business success; it’s about building a community of support. They share resources, knowledge, and networks, lifting each other up to do great things.

Case Study: A Female-Led Branding Photoshoot for Fabric Designer Eleanor Fausing

Let me share a real-life example. Earlier this year I was involved in a branding photoshoot for talented fabric designer Eleanor Fausing. It was a fantastic project where everyone’s skills and expertise combined to create something incredible.

Eleanor designs hand-drawn luxury linen fabrics for curtains, blinds, soft furnishings, and upholstery. Her unique biophilic fabrics bridge the gap between nature and modern interiors, with a focus on natural materials and prints that embrace the outdoors to create calming spaces. Eleanor’s ethos has a big focus on sustainability and her prints are designed with the planet in mind. But her work also promotes good mental health as well through her use of colours, textures, and forms found within the natural world.

For the launch of her latest collection, Eleanor wanted to make a big splash in the world of interiors. She teamed up with stylists Ellena Border, and Stephanie Elaine Interiors. Together they brought Eleanor’s vision to life by creating stunning visuals to showcase the fabrics.

They say it takes a village, and with an ambitious agenda for shoot day, we were so grateful for the extra help from Eleanor’s mum, Sarah Smith, who shares Eleanor’s passion for interiors, and Eleanor’s hero of a fiance David!

“Having never quite ‘fit in’ before, I’ve not often felt understood or supported, but working with such talented and creative women on this project confirmed that I am indeed in the right place, surrounded by the right people!” ~ Eleanor Fausing.

The shoot resulted in a stunning collection of images that captured the heart of Eleanor’s brand. With the support of PR Specialist Sophie Marsden, Eleanor’s brand received lots of press coverage, both in the UK and the USA.

“The wonderful interiors and branding images have also helped attract new stockists for Eleanor Fausing, and have given me the confidence to promote my company as much as possible.” ~ Eleanor Fausing.

Collaborations can bring many benefits. Firstly, businesses can share resources and expertise, saving time and money, and sparking fresh creative projects. Secondly, collaborations help businesses to connect with others in their industry, leading to more collaborations, referrals and new customers. Finally, collaboration can be a great way to empower female business owners. When women come together to support each other, they can achieve great things.

Teaming up with other businesses is a fantastic tool for female entrepreneurs to support each other, grow and make a big impact. Through collaboration, creativity soars, brands flourish, and a supportive community thrives. Let’s celebrate these inspiring stories and keep creating an environment where women in business can flourish, together.

Tips for creating your own collaborations

  • Find like-minded businesses: Look for partners who share your values and goals. You’re more likely to create a project that you’re all passionate about.
  • Talk it out: Before diving in, make sure everyone’s on the same page. Discuss things like budget, timeline, and deliverables.
  • Be flexible: Things don’t always go according to plan, so be willing to adapt to changes and make compromises.
  • Stay in touch: Good communication is key. Keep talking with your collaborators, especially as the project progresses.
